The Angel

As a apecial bonus to all Sheriff 600 visitors, look at this astonishing photo that arrived on the 28:th of February 2009. Arno keep his boat some 100 km SOUTH of Paris along the river Seine. This winter, his "Angel" was caught in the frozen river for three weeks and the ice was at most 30 cm thick! So the climate change does not necessarily mean that it always get warmer, it might as well be colder! But admit that it is a wonderful photo!

The Angel in the frozen Seine 100 km south of Paris

From the start, Arno sent three photos to this site, but as you may see below, 57 photos arrived in 2005, and in the beginning of march 2009, another 28 photos arrived. They picture his Sheriff 600 in different stages of renovation. AND BOY, DID HE RENOVATE!.
In fact, Arno's story is the most fantasic example of taking on an impossible job AND SUCCEED!

If the interpretation of Arno's mailings are correct, he bought his Sheriff 600 in Montereau, some 100 km south of Paris along the river Seine. Looking at a map, I have difficulties in understanding how a sailboat would end up practically in the centre of France, but of course Seine is a wide river and probably possible to sail.

When Arno bought the "Angel", there was NOTHING that worked. He started off by making his own boat trailer, using a scrapped caravan as starting point. After that he grinded down all paint and repainted the whole boat. Then, on his own, he remade a lot of the equipment on the boat, like stainless steel parts, installed navigation equipment, new cushions in the cabin, made new sails and added a used 6 hp Johnson outboard motor.

The work took three years to complete, but now Arno is using his "Angel" in action.

We are, most of us, completely baffled!

Arno sent a complete documentation of the renovation work in 2005. It consists of 57 photos from the very purchase of "The Angel" until it is travelling the french waters in it's present splendor. It would be impossible to upload all these photos to the site, it would be too much to actually enjoy, but all of the photos would be appropriate to publish.

To make it a bit simpler to navigate this page, there is a table of contents below that is clickable, to make it possible for visitors to choose among the photos. There are a number of interesting solutions that other Sheriff 600 owners might benefit from.

As was said earlier, another batch of photos arrived to this site in march 2009, and most of those photos also deserves to be published. They are all wonderful. However, a decision had to be made, and some new additional pages have been added to the six special pages set up before. You can find the new entries below in the updated table of contents, and they are all clickable. One new and interesting achivement is the addition of a second jib. We can see the same thing on another boat in this community, look at our Italian friend member # 39, Liberato Vanacore
